Majestic Commercial helps companies to buy wine in a different way.

Our sister businesses include Majestic Wine Warehouses, Naked Wine and Lay and Wheeler. The Commercial team supplies great wine to restaurants, pubs, bars, media agencies, sports stadiums and fashion retailers (to name just a few!).

At Majestic Commercial, our aim is to help our customers to grow their businesses by generating more revenue through wine. We are in a unique position to do this, as we have unparalleled insight from 209 retail stores into the wines consumers love. Providing the “most wanted” wines at the right prices, our hyper-local delivery model means our customers will never be let down. Last but not least, we provide the training and expertise that give our customers’ teams the confidence to choose and recommend wines their own customers will love.

Our Key Purpose Statement

The Business and Industry team are responsible for sales and account management to corporate businesses (i.e. those not classed as on-trade). This account base includes more than 30 verticals from car dealerships to care homes. The potential to expand this area of the business through a proactive sales approach is enormous - overall we estimate the size of the market for Commercial to be circa £2 bn.   

Since its humble beginnings in Notting Hill in 1994, Majestic Commercial has grown substantially and now operates nationwide, turning over circa £50 million. A stable and profitable business, Commercial is significant contributor to Majestic’s bottom line.

The Role

Work alongside a Key Account Manager and department head to manage, retain, and grow existing Business & Industry accounts to achieve annual sales and margin targets, by working smartly and always innovating.

Co-manage a portfolio of ~300 accounts with an expected annual turnover of ~£2.5million. The accounts range from multi-site Contract Catering companies to event companies and large corporates in sectors such as marketing, finance, retail, law and media, based mainly in London but also all across the UK. In this role you will also be generating new business sales.

This is the perfect role for someone who is driven, ambitious and commercially minded, who is ready to take a step up to the next level and work strategically with management to grow the business.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside KAM to ensure optimum retention rates and actively grow existing account base to help achieve sales growth and increased profitability.
  • Be the known office based point of contact for your set customer base.
  • Communicate accurately and efficiently answering all customer queries in a timely manner.
  • Process orders accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers and deliver exceptional customer service on the telephone and by email.
  • Attend existing business meetings and events, work with the KAM to deliver solutions to improve profitability.
  • Work to make every customer’s wine list as profitable as possible by regularly reviewing and understanding their needs and profit targets, whilst maximising our sales and margin.
  • Use wine knowledge and market intelligence to recommend appropriate products to customers based on their buying criteria.
  • Resolve problems swiftly and professionally, with effective communication between all relevant parties.
  • Work alongside KAM to seek out and win new business accounts to help achieve sales growth and increased profitability.
  • Actively and accurately use all the tools available to help achieve sales growth and increased profitability.
  • Build good relationships and communication with the team, Commercial, Retail and the Support Centre, sharing best practice successes and championing smart ways of working.
  • Keep up to date with company wide initiatives and how these benefit the Majestic Commercial Package.
  • Keep up to date with industry and trade news, and keep customers and colleagues up to date as well.
  • Take responsibility for your personal development, putting a plan in place and actioning it.
  • Follow agreed guidelines set by the Kings Cross Operations team.
  • Complete all administration tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Support Centre Credit Control team to ensure all accounts are maintained within agreed credit terms.
  • Produce monthly statements accurately and on time.

Organisational Context

This role reports to the Head of Corporate Business and Events in the Majestic Commercial team.

Competencies and experience required:

  • A person who people like dealing with - a relationship and rapport builder.
  • A passion for wine, preferably having achieved WSET level 2 or above, and with the ability to use that passion to talk, inspire, and build trust.
  • Credibility within the wine trade and comfortable dealing with people at all levels.
  • Always prepared to go the extra mile.
  • A person who commands respect, rather than demands it. By being credible, unflappable and dignified under pressure, proactive, mature and fiercely self-driven.


  • £24,00 - £28,00 dependent on experience 
  • Quarterly sales commission linked to account base GP
